Press Release: Fire at 5613 N. Milwaukee River Pkwy

For Immediate Release:

Glendale, WI: This evening at approximately 8:00p.m., the Bayside Communications Center received several reports of a structure on fire in the 5600 block of North Milwaukee River Parkway, in Glendale. Additionally, a law enforcement officer on a traffic stop in the area reported the fire via the radio. Crews were dispatched to 5613 N. Milwaukee River Parkway and found a fully-involved detached garage fire.

Fire crews quickly initiated an aggressive attack on the fire, as well as established protective hose lines to prevent any fire spread to multiple neighboring homes and garages. The fire was brought under control quickly.

There were no injuries to any of the occupants of the adjacent homes or to personnel operating on the scene.

Unfortunately, the structure and the four vehicles inside are considered a total loss. The damage to the fire structure and the contents (including vehicles) is estimated at approximately $800,000. There was heat and fire damage to the home, as well as the adjacent home and garage. That damage is estimated at approximately $30,000.

The exact cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation by North Shore Fire/Rescue, and the Glendale Police Department, but it is not believed to be suspicious at this time.

Power lines in the area suffered significant damage as a result of the fire and WE Energies was requested to the scene. In order to render the area safe for emergency responders, the power to a small area surrounding the fire address was secured. Questions regarding the restoration of power should be directed to WE Energies. North Shore Fire/Rescue appreciates the prompt response and partnership from WE Energies in ensuring personnel on scene are safe and we apologize for the inconvenience the power outage caused.

North Shore Fire/Rescue was assisted on scene by resources from the Milwaukee Fire Department. In addition, several neighboring municipalities provided resources for covering subsequent calls for service during the incident.
