Press Release: Fire at 1100 W. Fairy Chasm Rd., River Hills

12/2/2017

For Immediate Release:

River Hills, WI: Last night at approximately 10:08 p.m., the Bayside Communications Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a home on fire at 1100 West Fairy Chasm Road in River Hills. River Hills Police and North Shore Fire/Rescue units were dispatched immediately. During the response, the crews could see a heavy volume of fire from a considerable distance away and requested the alarm be upgraded to bring additional resources to the scene.

On arrival, crews found a single family home well-involved in fire. The occupants of the home and their family pet had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of emergency responders. A neighbor, who first noticed the fire had run to the home to alert the residents on the opposite end of the house, likely allowing them to safely evacuate before the fire spread further.

Fire crews initiated a defensive fire attack on the fire and quickly brought the fire under control. Due to the heavy volume of fire on arrival, the attached garage and new addition to the home, as well as a vintage classic car are likely a total loss. The damage to the structure and contents is estimated at approximately $125,000.

The exact cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation by North Shore Fire/Rescue and the River Hills Police Department; however it is not believe to be suspicious.

North Shore Fire/Rescue was assisted on scene by resources from the Milwaukee Fire Department. In addition, several neighboring municipalities provided resources for covering subsequent calls for service during the incident.
