Check smoke detecorsStatistics released by the National Fire Protection Agency indicate a home structure fire is reported every 85 seconds. Fire moves fast and people need to be ready to move faster. The fact is, when fire strikes, a home can be engulfed in smoke and flames in just two minutes. That's why it's essential to maintain smoke alarms on every level of your home, create a fire escape plan, and have a basic understanding of potential hazards within your home. 

In an effort to keep our residents safe from fire and promote community safety, North Shore Fire/Rescue will conduct a free courtesy home safety evaluation. This service is offered to residents of:

  • Bayside
  • Brown Deer
  • Fox Point
  • Glendale
  • River Hills
  • Shorewood
  • Whitefish Bay

During the fire safety evaluation of your home, members of North Shore Fire/Rescue will discuss various safety-related topics, such as:

  • Electrical Safety
  • Fire Escape Planning
  • General Home Safety
  • Proper Storage/Use of Chemicals, Combustibles and Flammables
  • Smoke Alarms and Their Maintenance

The items discussed during the assessment are recommendations based on local and national statistics. The homeowner is under no obligation to comply with the recommendations discussed during the assessment.
