Station 82 was originally built by the City of Glendale in 1963 and operated as the Glendale Fire Department until consolidation in 1995. The sale of the property was offered by the City in 2002 and the Department has owned and operated the building since that time. Station 82 was evaluated in the Long-Range Financial Plan as the next facility to be updated.
In April 2023 the Department secured funding for this construction project with the support from all North Shore communities. The City of Glendale is bonding on the Department's behalf. The facility will now bring together all three of the Department's divisions including the Administrative Division, Operations Division, and Support Services Division. Battalion 8, Truck 82 and Med 82 will operate out of this facility. In addition, a state-of-the-art fleet maintenance facility is included in the project. The North Shore Health Department will also be relocating into their own wing at this location.
After a competitive bid process, Sherrer Construction was awarded the construction contract. Construction began in May 2023 and is anticipated to be completed in spring 2024. Check back for further updates as construction progresses.
Mid-September: Roof decking is being installed. Exterior walls are being placed for the North Shore Health Department wing.
